A cement ball mill is a horizontal cylinder that holds partly steel balls as grinding media. The main application of a cement ball mill is grinding clinker in cement grinding units or raw meals in cement plants. It can also grind various ores and other grindable materials in industrial and mining enterprises such as metallurgy, chemical industry, and electric power.

The cement ball mill can be used for open-circuit grinding, or closed-circuit grinding combined with a cement separator. The cement mill has the characteristics of strong adaptability to materials, continuous production, a large crushing ratio, and easy speed regulation to grind the fineness of products. Structure of cement ball mill
The cement ball mill consists of the mill body, hollow shaft, two bearings, transmission devices(large gear, pinion, reducer, motor), and other parts. The mill body is composed of a mill shell and liner plate inside.

Cement ball mill Working principle
A typical cement ball mill has two grinding chambers. The chambers are filled with grinding media (usually steel balls, sometimes steel slags) of various specifications with a certain ratio. The size of the grinding media determines the fineness of the discharged material. The smaller the grinding media, the finer the finished product.
The first chamber is mainly responsible for the coarse grinding of material. The inner wall of the chamber is mostly inlaid with stepped liner plates or corrugated liner plates, which can effectively enhance the lifting capacity of steel balls. When the equipment is running, the steel balls and raw materials also tumble with the operation of the equipment. The grinding media rotates to a certain height with the mill body and falls because of gravity. Materials fed into the ball mill are impacted by the falling grinding media. On the other hand, the material is crushed by the extrusion and stripping forces because of the contact with the sliding rolling grinding media and shell liner.
After many frictions and collisions, the material is ground for the first time. The coarsely ground materials in the first chamber enter the second chamber through an intermediate diaphragm. The walls of the second chamber are mostly inlaid with flat liner plates. This kind of plate has a weak ability to lift the steel balls, the relative movement between the raw materials and steel balls is large, so the second chamber has a stronger grinding effect on the material. The material completes the fine grinding operation in this chamber.

Most ordinary cement ball mills are used in the closed circuit grinding system, which is characterized by high grinding efficiency, large mill output, and low power consumption, especially when grinding slag cement, the performance is more prominent. Generally, the output of the mill can be increased by 15-20%, and the power consumption can be reduced by about 10%. In addition, the temperature of the finished product can be reduced by 20-40 °C, and the product’s fineness can be easily adjusted.
High-fine and high-yield cement ball mill
High-fine high-yield cement ball mill is mainly used in open-circuit grinding systems. It is characterized by simple system equipment and process flow, low investment, and small plant area. An advanced internal powder separation device is adopted in the structure of the mill, an activation device is added to the fine grinding chamber, and a special discharge grate is provided at the end of the grinding mill. It can minimize the size of the grinding media in the grinding chamber, greatly improve the grinding efficiency, and achieve the purpose of high output and low energy consumption.
