Open circuit to closed circuit grinding

The grinding system for cement can be divided into open-circuit systems and closed-circuit systems according to different grinding methods. In the grinding process, the material that passes through the cement mill once and becomes the finished product is called an open circuit grinding system. It is called a closed circuit grinding system when a cement separator is used to classify the fine ground material as the finished products and return the coarse ones to cement mills for re-grinding.

The open circuit grinding system is widely applied in cement clinker grinding. Although it has the advantages of simple process, less equipment, less investment, and easy operation. The grinding efficiency is low and the unit power consumption is high. Over-grinding and heating problems also need to be solved.

According to industry reports, by transforming the open-circuit mill system into a closed-circuit mill system, the comprehensive unit power consumption of cement grinding can be reduced by more than 14%.

The closed-circuit grinding system can greatly reduce over-grinding, increase the output of the cement mill, and reduce power consumption. The product particle size is uniform, and the fineness of the finished product can be changed by adjusting the parameters of the classification equipment.

Ball mill only grinding to roller press / VRM & ball mill combined grinding

The early cement grinding process was mainly based on a ball mill grinding system ( a single ball mill with open or closed-circuit grinding) and the ball mill was responsible for the tasks of crushing and grinding. The output and grinding energy utilization rate of cement grinding is low, and the power consumption of the process is high.

As the roller press is widely used in the cement grinding industry, the new grinding system often chooses the roller press and ball mill combined grinding system. Compared with the simple ball mill, the hourly output of the mill in the system is greatly increased, and the power consumption of the grinding process is significantly reduced.

The vertical roller mill & ball mill combined grinding is another upgrading scheme. The cement vertical mill pre-grinds the clinker, and the crushed clinker becomes smaller and has cracks. The pre-treated materials greatly improve the grinding capability of the cement ball mills.
