A slag grinding plant is also referred to as a slag grinding unit, a GGBS grinding unit, or a GGBFS production line. As its name indicates, the plant aims at producing ground granulated blast furnace slag, a fine powder with a specific fineness (marked as a specific surface area). The finished GGBS powder is a substitution for part of conventional Portland cement used in concrete mixers, significantly reducing the side effects on the environment while enhancing the properties of concrete.

Special design
LRM series slag vertical mill can realize no(light)-load starting. The specially designed structure reduces vibration and has less spary. The water spraying device stabilizes the material layer and lowers heat consumption.
Smooth running
The slag vertical mill adopts a hydraulic system, the operating pressure is low, and the mill runs smoothly.
High efficiency
The slag vertical mill is facilitated with 4 same grinding rollers. The main and auxiliary roller can be switched at any time, which greatly improves the operation efficiency while keeping the costs at a low level.
Easy maintenance
The roller device can be turned out using the roll-turning device, which is convenient for maintenance.
GGBS manufacturing process
The manufacturing of GGBS goes through material taking, transportation, feeding, grinding, separating, drying, regrinding, slag powder collecting, and storage.
The forklift takes the heaped slag, feeds it, and uses a belt conveyor to transport it.
The elevator carries the slag into the slag vertical mill so that it can be ground. The powder separator then gathers the slag powder and uses a hot blast stove to dry it.
After being dried and ground, the slag powder is collected using a powder separator and sent to a vertical mill for regrinding. The approved powder is then transferred to a finished product warehouse.

why produce GGBS?
Why GGBS?
Reduce costs of cement production
After the slag is ground, it can be directly added to the finished 42.5 cement at about 30%, which can achieve the same strength as the original cement, save a lot of cement clinker, and reduce the cost of cement production.
Reduce concrete costs and enhance its strength and durability
In the original mix ratio of concrete, each cubic meter of concrete slag powder can replace 50 to 80 kg of cement, which can reduce the cost of concrete production and greatly improve the density and durability of concrete.
What is GGBS?
GGBS is the short term for ground granulated blast furnace slag. It is a by-product of the iron-making process in blast furnaces. The initial form of the GGBS is molten iron slag which is then quenched, dried, and ground into fine powders.
Physical properties: A finely power with glassy nature and a particle size distribution which makes concrete durable.
Chemical properties: It can increase the strength of the concrete mix because of the additional biding yield in the chemical reaction. (silicates and alumina silicate of lime form GGBS reacts with calcium hydroxide in cement).
