Solution Introduction

A cement grinding unit is a production line that grinds the cement clinker to finish cement. The ball mill grinding plant is a grinding system that uses a ball mill alone as the main grinding equipment to achieve the grinding effect. The working process can be an open circuit or a closed circuit. It is the earliest system of cement grinding that is still in use today.

Four mainstream grinding systems according to the cement mills using

Clinker grinding process with a ball mill (closed circuit)

First Step: Raw material dosing

The ingredient ratio is decided by the type of cement produced. Normally, the main raw materials are clinker, gypsum, and additives.

Second Step: Grinding

The grinding system adopts a closed-circuit ball mill grinding system.

Cement clinker and gypsum are fed into the first chamber through the feeding device. In this chamber, the materials are crushed to a certain particle size by the grinding media with a larger average ball diameter and then enter the second chamber through the central diaphragm. The second chamber is filled with a grinding media with a smaller average ball diameter, and the material is further ground. The ground material passes through the discharge grate and is discharged from the lower outlet of the discharge device.

Third Step: Classify

The discharged material enters the cement mill separator for classifying through the bucket elevator. After being sorted by the cement mill separator, the coarse-grained material is fed back into the mill to continue grinding. The qualified fine powder is sent to the dust collector.

Fourth Step: Filtering

The qualified fine powder is collected in a filter bag, and the finished cement is produced.

Fifth Step: Cement packing or storage

Bag packing or storage of the finished cement in a storage silo.

Advantages & disadvantages of Closed Circuit ball mill grinding system

The characteristics of the open circuit system are: a simple process, less equipment, less investment, and simple operation. But the material must meet the product fineness requirements before it can be milled. Therefore, when the product is required to be finer, the finely ground material will be over-pulverized, and a buffer layer will be formed in the mill, which will prevent the coarse material from being further ground, and sometimes even the phenomenon of fine powder encapsulation will occur, thus reducing the grinding effect. As a result, electrical losses are increased.

The use of the closed circuit system can discharge the fine powder in time, eliminate the phenomenon of excessive crushing, and increase the output of the ball mill equipment. At the same time, the particle size of the product is uniform, and the fineness of the product can be changed by adjusting the classification equipment.

Advantage

Less grinding equipment is needed.

The manufacturing process is easier.

Less maintenance of the grinding system.

Disadvantage

The power consumption per ton of cement is generally around 35-36kWh,

thus the operating cost is relatively high.
