Dolomite Calcination Plant
Capacity: 700-10000t/d
Calcination furnace: rotary kiln
Raw material: dolomite
What is a dolomite calcination plant? A dolomite calcination plant is set up for making calcined dolomite from the raw dolomite ore. The dolomite is burnt at high temperatures in rotary kilns, normally at 1100℃~1250℃. The precise temperature depends on the characteristics of the dolomite stones. Overburning or inadequate burning will occur if the temperature is too high or too low. The chemical formula is CaCO3 + MgCO3 + Heat®CaO + MgO.
Why invest in dolomite calcination? Calcined dolomite is widely used as a raw material for manufacturing basic refractories. It also plays an important role in the steel industry and other industries. The market demand for calcined dolomite is promising. The investment cost can be saved through technology optimization. The large market demand leads to stable long-term returns.

The dolomite calcination process

- Raw material storage and transport: 5-35mm particles are selected and conveyed to the top of the feed silo through a conveyor belt.
- Dolomite Calcination: The dolomite calcination system is composed of a vertical preheater, a rotary kiln, and a vertical cooler. The material is transferred from the top bin of the preheater to the body of the preheater through the feed chute. At the same time, the high-temperature flue gas from the rotary kiln preheats the material to more than 600℃, causing particle decomposition of dolomite. Then the hydraulic push rod of the vertical preheater pushes the material into the tail of the rotary kiln. After calcining at high temperature in the rotary kiln, the material is cooled below 100℃ and discharged into the cooler, and the air blown into the cooler enters the rotary kiln as secondary air to participate in calcining.
- Finished product transportation: The finished calcined dolomite unloaded from the cooler is transported to the storage silo through a bucket elevator.
- Flue gas treatment: The high-temperature flue gas generated in the calcining dropped to 280-300℃ after heat exchange with the dolomite in the preheater. Some of the flue gas is reused to prepare the coal powder by drying them with afterheat. After filtration by the dust collector, the temperature of the flue gas further drops to below 80℃ and is released into the air if the dust concentration meets the national standards. Otherwise, the flue gas is discharged into the atmosphere through the chimney after entering the bag filter, and the dust concentration of the gas is less than 50mg/Nm3.
- Pulverized coal preparation: After the raw coal is stored and homogenized, the raw coal powder is ground to 0.08mm<10% by a closed-circuit system composed of air swept coal mill and dynamic separator. The finished coal powder enters the storage through the conveying equipment to meet the needs of fuel reserve for more than 16 hours of calcination in the rotary kiln. Pulverized coal production, transportation, and storage are equipped with explosion-proof devices to prevent the accidental opening of pulverized coal.
Dolomite Rotary Kiln Features
The main piece of machinery in a dolomite calcination plant is the rotary kiln. It is also one of SINOMA Zibo’s main products. The equipment is completed through ongoing innovation based on the conventional rotary kiln. The calcined dolomite produced by the rotary kiln is characterized by a strong reaction, small particle size, and excellent purity. The dolomite rotary kiln is crucial to the calcination process because it reduces time, enhances product quality, maximizes calcination technology, and increases financial gains.

Advantages
The dolomite rotary kiln has a simple structure design, which has a good sealing effect from the advanced sealing technology and devices at the two ends of the kiln. The production efficiency is high, the service life is long due to the automatically controlled temperature, and the reuse of residual heat from secondary air intake. The liner is made of high-quality refractories, ensuring long-term operation.
The kiln head adopts an industrial TV fire observation and process simulation screen. These new technologies make the operation easier, reliable, and improve efficiency.
The dolomite rotary kiln calcining system adopts domestic and foreign advanced hydraulic wheel block devices, metering plunger pumps with high accuracy, high-precision speed control valves contact graphite block sealing devices, and other domestic advanced technologies.
High operating rate, heat transfer efficiency, stable operation, and large processing capacity. The operating rate has increased by 10%, productivity has increased by 5-10%, and thermal consumption has reduced by 15%.
